For over 100 years, the original aviator shape has been a popular classic because it is the most functional of all eye shapes. In 1958, American Optical designed and manufactured the Flight Goggle 58 for the US military to provide pilots with maximum protection, optical performance and comfort. Now known as Original Pilot's Sunglasses, they have been in continuous production since then, and become a favorite of U.S. military pilots for more than 50 years. AO Original Pilot's Sunglasses were the first sunglasses to land on the moon in 1969 and have been used by millions of US soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen. The rugged and sturdy structure and high quality finishing of the steel alloy frame coupled with distortion free, toughened and polished True Color® glass lenses have made the AO Original Pilot's Sunglasses the standard bearer of all fine military sunglasses. About American Optical (known as AO)
The AO heritage began in 1826 when the true moment was born. William Beecher, the founder fostered an enduring precept for the company that was to grow into the American Optical Company. It grew at an exponential rate at the turn of 19 century and set-up its offshore office in London in 1905. In 1917, AO designed and built 8 mobile optical units to support U.S. troops and Allied Forces in Europe during WWI that a record of two and one-half million glasses were furnished to the US Government for the war effort. In the early 1930's, AO was supplying the Air Force with aviator goggles, including the U.S.A.C. Goggle Type B-6 and later the Type B-7 model. During WWII, AO had again come to the forefront with new optical products developed by their research laboratories. This development work allowed AO to supply the US Government with new products including gun sights, bombsights, AR glass, aviation goggles, sunglasses and precision optics for military and instrument applications.
It was in 1958 that the Flight Goggle 58, now known as the Original Pilot Sunglass was produced for the US military to provide pilots with maximum protection, optical performance and comfort. In fact, this Original Pilot Sunglass was honored to be the first ever sunglass to land on the moon worn by Commander Neil Armstrong and the crew of Apollo 11 in 1969. It now resides on permanent display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
ORDERING
All orders are processed when they are received. All orders are considered as rush orders and are delivered at first place subject to availability.
Any change in the order must be made within 24 hours of placement of the original order. Orders that have already shipped out cannot be revised.
PAYMENT
Trading currency is in Australian Dollors only.
All orders are due on invoiced, i.e. payment is cleared and/or authorised by the bank prior to order delivery. Order will be automatically cancelled without notice when accrued payment is not received within 5 days after placing the order or prior to delivery in terms which is earlier.

SHIPPING
- All orders received before 2pm with cleared payment will be dispatched on the same working day; whereas the following working day.
- Postage quoted is to be sent by registered mail inclusive of insurance (within OZ), generally. FREE postage is offered for order value over A$200.
WARRANTY & RETURN
- FUSION GEAR endeavours to have replacement without charges in case where the goods arrive non-functional to the Buyer. The Buyer is obliged to notify FUSION GEAR of the intended replacement at first place. Fusion Gear will send the replacement to the Buyer within 7 days upon receipt of the faulty goods returned in good order that are not exhibited damage or non-functional as a result of use, which means no scratches, dents, chips, cracks or missing components. The Buyer shall ensure all items returned appropriately packed with original package in whole including all original components and accessories if any.
