US Military G.I. Stainless Steel Canteen Cup US Made $25.60

U.S. Military G.I. Canteen Cup Stainless Steel 1qt Butterfly Style Made in USA

This genuine GI nested canteen cup, has a butterfly handle to easily carry cup, fits 1 quart canteen, made of heavy gauge stainless steel

The best thing of all is that the cup is kidney shaped just like the canteen, the cup slides over the bottom of your canteen and nestles inside your canteen cover, allowing you to carry a convenient cook pot without taking any additional space in your kit.  Ideal for making a hot cup of coffee or tea on a brisk morning or a cup of hot chocolate or warm soup on a cold afternoon in the field or even have a hot shave.  The folding butterfly handles are designed to be used over an open fire, a GI stove, or a backpacking stove.

Made in U.S.A.  Measures 3¼ x 5¼ x 4 inches deep, fits G.I. issue 1 quart plastic canteen, canteen stove stand and canteen cover available in our store.

Listing price is for one canteen cup only, exclusive of canteen cup stove stand.

About G.I. Canteen Cup Stove Stand (extracted from http://www.olive-drab.com)
The metal canteen cup was part of the original M1910 canteen set consisting of the canteen itself, cup, and cloth cover. While the handle design of the cup has changed, little else is different in 2010, after a century of service.

In 1974 the canteen cup was redesigned as part of the ALICE LC-1 equipment.  The cup was produced in stainless steel with a flared upper edge similar to the corrosive resistant steel cup of 1942.  However, instead of a single folding handle, the cup had two steel wire handles that open out for use, and fold flat against the side of the cup when placed in the canteen cover (the "butterfly handle" or "wing handle").

The metal canteen cup is intended to hold hot liquids, such as coffee or soup, and can be used to boil liquids.  Because of this need to handle heat, the metal cup is still used with the plastic canteen.

The metal canteen cup continues in use even in the 21st century, but is not carried by everyone. The use of Meal, Ready to Eat (MRE) rations, prepackaged water, and other changes has reduced the need for the separate cup.

The most common aluminum Canteen Cup Stove is with a kidney cross-sectional shape matched to the canteen cup. Place the bottom of canteen cup into the chamber of the stove where the flame from the fuel can work directly on the cup with little loss.
